 I signed up to do the Mag7 Big Bang (artist) and didn't realize how close it's getting. @_@

I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous...'cause I am.

The worst part is not being able to plan something...anything. I feel blind. Can't even have an eensy weensy peek of the story I'll be working with.

I better light a fire until my tail and get some practice work in before I have a deadline to deal with.

 So my paintings didn't win any ribbons at the fair this year (booo!) but they were finalists of a sort. Since it was a juried show, the judges picked what paintings would be displayed in the gallery and which ones wouldn't. Two of my three paintings (the cat face and the big purple dahlia) were chosen to be in the main gallery. (WOO!) They didn't sell either but that's okay :)

My next artistic venture is tomorrow. Back in April, I was chosen, along with fourteen other artists, to do a paint out at the Indianapolis zoo and gardens. The painting I did (a pink orchid) was framed by the zoo and put on display at the gardens for the summer. Now that summer's almost over, the paintings are sold at silent auction. As the artist, I get to go to the reception and bring a guest (Mom got dibs :P )
The thought of small talk is killing me already but other than that, I'm really excited to go to my first reception!

Now that I have no art deadlines to meet, I've just been playing around and it's SO NICE. Recent themes that have caught my attention are...cupcakes...for some odd reason. Both of these paintings are the same size as a playing card and I LOVED working on them....even though I couldn't eat them.

I've also started dabbling in writing again after a VERY long hiatus over the summer. There are two short story contests that I'd like to enter and both deadlines are in the first week of September. Even if I don't make the deadlines, the point is to get me writing and it's done that, thank goodness.

That's all the fun stuff. I'm *SUPPOSED* to be doing homework...but that's not happening. >:}

 Turned in my paintings to the gallery today! There's a preview the day before the fair opens so I'll know if I placed in the competition but more than placing, I'd really like for at least one of them to sell. My paintings were priced pretty cheaply compared to the $25,000 painting next to me as I signed out the paperwork. O_O

Kitty Face. Pencil on paper. Finished size: 12"X12"

Magnolia. Watercolor on paper. Finished size: 11"X14"

Dahlia. Watercolor on paper. Finished dimensions: 16"x20"

My babies all ready to leave home! :P

Now everything is all settled. One week to wait until I can see them in the gallery.
Off to watch the Olympics! Wish I could have gone to London.....that would have been INCREDIBLE.
